Divine Illusion” is an homage to the loved ones the duo lost in Oakland’s Ghost Ship fire. Created in the haze of confusion that follows devastating loss, the song reflects on longing to connect with those who have left this realm. As the band shifts their sound toward the murky depths of dub with an upcoming LP to be released on the Felte label in early 2019, “Divine Illusion” is the final chapter of the duo’s industrial / shoegaze sound. The song also serves as a farewell to the Bay Area, to an era that has passed.
