Who's that Girl? // Ivy D'Muerta

Age:
Eternal youth and intelligence, the best age!

Ethnicity:
American born girl of a family lineage from Finland and Croatia

Currently live:
A California girl since I was born, currently in Los Angeles. Fortunate to travel with my line of work however! Let’s say I enjoy the nomadic life.

Day job (what pays the bills):

I am a full time Model believe it or not! And recently landed an amazing opportunity and career with Sirius XM satellite radio channel 40, Liquid Metal! (Thank you to my mentor, Jose Mangin!) I aim to hold both amazing careers for my lifetime.  I would however love to be a TV Hostess and travel the world teaching about different cultures with dashes of Physics and music talk intermingled.  I think it would be a fun way for children and adults to have an educational program to watch. But we’ll get to the science part later in this interview…

Hobbies:

Exploring the wilderness.  Nothing that I have experienced can compare to the adventure of packing bare necessities and spending at least a few days in the wilderness.  Whether a relaxing camping get away or a long backpacking hiking trip within the wild mountains.  It is my sanctuary.

I also enjoy writing, Muay Thai, playing instruments, sky diving, racing cars, reading, and most importantly never stop having fun and learning new things about this world we live.

 Aspirations:

At the end of the day, I would love to continue modeling and entertaining the general public through radio and TV.  But my lifetime goal whether I achieve it or not is to honestly achieve the Nobel Peace Prize and/or the Nobel Prize in relation to my studies and future achievements in Physics and possibly Astrobiology.

Single/Taken:

My handsome and intelligent fellow and I share our hearts.

Education/Study:

I am currently enrolled with a University to obtain my Degree in Physics.  I am and have been extremely interested in the study of Physics, Astrophysics and Astrobiology since I was about 6 or 7 years old.

What was growing up like for you?

My childhood was fantastic, to be completely true.  My parents, sister, and all relatives have always been wonderful and if any one word could describe my childhood it would be laughter and love.  My friends all were very diverse and I think having them, and a strong family kept my values, integrity and happiness stout.

Do you see yourself as Model?

I see myself as expressing myself through modeling as a painter sees their canvas.

When did you become involved in modeling and what do you love about it?

I first entered modeling when I was about 13 years old, I landed a Manager and Agent but quickly cut away from the contract.  I was too young and insecure about my body and knew it would be tumultuous if I continued.

Fast forward a few years and I “accidentally” fell into modeling again when a friend of mine asked me to help her with her college photography assignment and if I would pose some pinup shots for her.  I agreed, and from those simple photographs I began to get hired by a few small retro inspired clothing companies.  Seven years later I now am able to make a living from modeling and it has given me so many wonderful opportunities and learning experiences.

What would you like to do more in the future?

I would like to continue modeling; I am working hard right now to get into mainstream modeling.  I feel it’s time the mainstream publications accepted talented models who also happen to have tattoos. I’d like to continue my work in satellite radio giving live correspondence on shows and interviews, also just talking about music. Music will be a passion of mine forever.

Breaking into TV would be fun, like I said I have a passion for teaching and making things humorous.  Why not combine it all and share the experience to the world?!

What do you admire in other women?

We women are extraordinary creatures.  What I find admirable in women as of late is their ability to be secure in themselves and support other women as well.  To not bully or tear down others.  Not too many people in this day and age have those characteristics unfortunately, and I find myself gravitating toward friendships with those simple, yet enormous traits.

Who is Ivy D'Muerta?

Just a girl finding adventure in the world.

Where to you draw inspiration from?

I draw inspiration within my every day life.  All of my adventures, experiences and emotions go into my photos in one way or another.  Nature, the universe, my thoughts, all there in the photos you see.

How would you describe your style?

Comfortable and confident, with tailored sophistication. Kidding, I just like to wear jeans and a tank top with a pair of chucks (converse).  It’s laid back but hey, so am I.  I get to play dress up for a living, so when I’m living I’ll wear what’s comfortable.

Are you a fashion brands girl or do you just wear what you like or what’s comfortable?

I have no preference in what brand I’m wearing, as long as it’s fitted and I feel it reflects a bit of who I am when I wear it, I’ll be into it. Confidence in who you are is the best “fashion brand” anyone can wear.

Who would you say is your style icon?

No one in particular, just the life I live.  Going to concerts, hot rod shows, the beach, the lake, opera, whatever… It all inspires my fashion and it goes in fazes.

Top 5 clothing items you cannot live without?

Just a pair of good shoes, jeans and a top and I’d be all set! Throw in a hair brush and lipstick for fun...

Tales of love & lust?

A classy broad never tells.

What do you look for in the opposite sex?

There’s a certain aspect of a man which I find extremely attractive, it’s kindness.  Along with kindness, there is intelligence and confidence in himself with a nice helping of humility. I like a man who is as comfortable being in the middle of the wilderness with his backpack and sleeping bag as he is equally being comfortable at home and also at his place of work.  A well rounded man like that who can smile.

What is it that you love most about being a woman?

Our femininity! Giggling, curling our hair, our curves, our empathy and strengths. All of those things and more.

Number one beauty product you can't go without?

Water!

When no one is around what is Ivy usually doing?

Being a goof, I like joking around but I also like reading and relaxing outdoors, visiting with friends and family. Dreaming of international travel.

Is there a public and private Ivy?

There is, only in the fact that I’m actually really shy.  Small talk is awkward and I get beet-red embarrassed when given a compliment.  I never thought I’d share that publicly haha, but hey why not.

Are we likely to see a lot more of you as a model?

Yes, absolutely.  I feel like I’ll still be modeling when I’m a senior citizen, it’s my creative outlet and I appreciate the art of modeling.  It’s very therapeutic and most importantly it is fun!

What's your take on life and what advice would give any of your fans?

My take on life is ever-renewing, I strive each day to learn something new and just to accept what comes my way and work with it.  Fight for what you believe in.  Do not put others down.  Try to understand someone or something that you’d never want to or think you wouldn’t give a second glance.  Compliment.  Help.  Be active. Listen to music.  And most importantly, find yourself.
