23 year old Russian born Ira Chernova is certainly very easy on the eyes however, she prefers to be behind the lens rather than in front. Incredibly modest, Ira maintains her place is behind the camera playing the role of the photographer admitting she really doesn't think she belongs in modelling and sees herself as a photographer only.
4 years ago after taking a film camera from one of her parents Ira turned her hobby into her day job and passion.
"My life was kind of empty, no hobbies at all..it was something safe I finally got for myself."
Ira has a very distinct look and sultriness which was at first what drew me to her. That, and that she bares a remarkable resemblance to a young Asia Argento.
Ira's ambition is clear, to set out to become progressively better as a photographer. With all the travelling Ira does it's little wonder she draws her inspiration from a wealth of surroundings. From portraits to band photography to self-portraits Ira is no stranger to diversity. Once an engineering graduate, Ira now aims to return to study in Fine Arts.
Ira chronicles all her photography work on her online
journal. One of her recurrent subjects is the band Dillinger Escape Plan. When I asked why the fascination she explained that their energy made them one of her favourite subjects and always a pleasure to shoot especially being they are so different to what she normally shoots.
Ira's number one aspiration is to keep improving herself. After speaking to Ira, one thing remains clear she has an undeniable passion for photography and life. She knows what she wants in life and I expect that we will see a lot more of Ira whether behind or in front of the camera lens.
"Don't stop for nothing its full speed or nothing. We have only one life so better to live it like you want to."
