More Ephemerol debut new single "Cult Classics"

Los Angeles synth act More Ephemerol consists of members Sea Fjerstad and Tamara Sky. Though the project has one previously released LP, "Fractal Bath", featuring an array of experimental compositions by Sea, the new material ditches all digital instruments and adds the voice and presence of Sky to the equation, establishing More Ephemerol as a strictly analog synth duo, delivering a newly focused sound inspired by the likes of proto-new wave/minimal wave favorites such as Experimental Products, The Modern Mannequins, Turquoise Days, Oppenheimer Analysis, and early Human League.

'Cult Classics' discusses the human desire to be accepted into groups of individuals who we feel completely outside of, or invisible to. The lyrics focus on intrigue and the raw sort of vulnerability within this rather universal desire.

Creux Lies // The Hearth

Revered for use of reverb-laden guitar work, creative synth structures, and dynamic vocals akin to the style of  many early shades of 80’s pop darkness, Creux Lies are known as an alternative / post-punk / new romantic-esq project from Sacramento, California. Created out of the band formerly known as NMBRSTTN, singer Ean Clevenger, guitarist Barry Crider, synth/electronics David Wright, drummer Topher Snyder, and bassist Kyle Vorst have focused their creative vision toward a new path of electro-drenched melancholy sonic styling.
In late 2017, Creux Lies completed their first full-length, recorded at the creative fantasy-land known as Earthtone Studios in their home-city under the creative care of producer/engineer extraordinaire Patrick Hills. Their initial single and video, “Zone,” was released in January as a stand alone to much fanfare and commotion; as well as being added to several of the most notable genre-relevant playlists and radio broadcasts through out the world.
The band signed to Cleopatra Records for their opening release, The Hearth, out now.

Crux Lies released today (8/17) their debut full length album The Hearth. The album was released via Cleopatra Records and is available on all streaming platforms as well as on CD via their Bandcamp page. In this album the band manages to masterfully blend the sounds of classic post punk with a newer, modern touch and approach.nThe result is beautiful melodies, clear vocals, and a nostalgic sound that takes one straight back to the 80's.

Creux Lies gave us a first taste of the sound of The Hearth with the single Portals, that was released mid July of this year to great response from fans and journalists. The album and its lyrics were influences by tarot and mysticism, particularly the concept of duality and/or confronting multiple problems at once. This point of view let the band to find the artist who's work would eventually become the cover art for the album, Alex Kanevsky.
Creux Lies approached Kanevsky about the piece for the cover
(titled "J.F.H. with Her Portrait"), to which the artist agreed after listening and liking the new album.

CHROME LEATHER // Personal Hell

Humidity is oppressive, it is stifling, it is enveloping and it is unbearable. Chrome Leather existing in the depths of the Brisbane underground, know this only all too well. Replace humidity with the disappointment and monotony of everyday living and you’re getting real close to understanding why this EP was created.

It is a means of reaching up and reaching out and still pushing through when you’ve had more than enough. With a heavy 80’s post-punk influence, this is music for the outsider.

GOST // Possessor

Synthwave artist GOST is no run of the mill synth artist. His music is adrenaline fuelled, intoxicating metal infused synth that you can't stop turning up louder and louder. Much is not know about who GOST was before there was GOST but we know he played in metal bands and his favourite film is still The Goonies, that's enough for me.

His nostalgia for 80's music, horror and the high impact of myth and performance of music artists of the time like KISS hugely influenced him and after hearing “Pump Up the Volume" from the film of the same name so began the underpinnings of what would later become GOST.

Gost has also released a free download of his cover track of Nine Inch Nail's iconic track "Head Like a Hole' which you can download directly from Bandcamp.

Possessor is out now through Blood Music Records.

CELESTE XXX

Based in Los Angeles, CELESTE XXX is a dark wave musician with shock value and dark feminine tones to her music and performances. Often explosive and unapologetic, she experiments with realms of her personality with hints of inspiration from cult horror films and deities. She leaks her on stage persona into the transformation of the face through makeup artistry exploring the avant garde.

Her vocals whilst sultry and full of sass, pack a dark synth-pop punch to the hips whilst delivering unabashed confident feminine power prowess. Celeste's onstage persona leaves little to the imagine and nor shouldn't it. She is unafraid, raw and on her own mission to delve into herself and the feminine contradictory universe we create.

Celeste XXX succeeds in exorcising her demons and sexual female rebellion and does it all to one hell of a sexy groove and dark electro lusty beat.

SRSQ // The Martyr

Photo © Kristin Cofer

SRSQ  (pronounced  seer-skew)  is  the  solo  project  of  Kennedy  Ashlyn  (vocalist/keyboardist  of  Them  Are  Us  Too).  Creative voids aren’t filled, but rather holes left that push the edges of the present into new realms of consciousness. SRSQ’s pulse began after the  death  of  Kennedy’s  closest  friend  and  TAUT  collaborator  Cash  Askew, a casualty in  the  sudden and tragic Oakland  Ghost  Ship  Fire  of  2016.  Driven by loss, SRSQ became the vehicle for Kennedy’s transformative process, exploring nuance, nostalgia, reflection, and reconciliation, manifesting in the aural landscape of Unreality.

The Martyr is the first single from the upcoming debut album 'Unreality'

As a debut, Unreality is entrance into a new form of  storytelling, traversing the present while pulling from a deep swath of experience, immersion, and sound. Like the impulse it pulls from, each song evokes the complex duality of meditation—where simple intersects with infinite. Ambient  synthesizers  that  approach  harshness,  relentless  arpeggiations  act together with Kennedy’s  vocals as a lush weapon, weaving cloudlike fables over orchestration that’s familiar and foreign. Trance-like at times, yet always rooted in cadence and structure, the synesthesia of sound and feeling takes cues from the delicate miasma of Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, or Dead Can Dance, using their example as the ground floor for building a new temple of frequency. Kennedy proves an adept architect of rhythm, using sequenced electronics as a deep backbeat that allows the harrowing beauty of her vocals to lead the journey.

Produced  by  Matia  Simovich  of  Inhalt, Unreality  is  simultaneously  crisp  and  full,  each  tone  and  note  occupying  its  own  unique  sonic  world - grief butted against power, tracked to a heavy heartbeat.

SRSQ Unreality will be out October 26th on CD, LP, and digital formats via Dais records.

NUN // Pick Up the Phone

Formed in late 2011, Nun started life as a recording project for members Jenny Branagan, Tom Hardisty (Woollen Kits), Steven Harris and Hugh Young (Constant Mongrel / Hamhock). The group formed over a shared love of bands such as Iron Curtain, Sixx, Coil, Throbbing Gristle, Snowy Red, John Carpenter, Goblin and Christian Death.

The band also draw aesthetic influence from 80’s BBC sci-fi dramas such as Threads, the children's occult classic Moondial, British 70's horror films such as Blood on Satan’s Claw, Carpenter’s classic They Live and Cronenberg's Videodrome, as well as the esoteric imagery of books such as Readers Digest: Strange Stories & Amazing Facts, where images of possession, stigmata, spirit photography and apparitions sit beside tales of the Loch Ness Monster and moving statues.

INSPIRED BY BLEAK DISCO, PARANOIA AND BUCKY FULLER.

Pick Up the Phone is the second single from NUN's second album, The Dome coming out November 2018 via Aarght Records.

Filmed, directed & edited by Sagan Productions (Bryce Maher and Jenny Branagan).
