Bona Drag X In God We Trust | Keep a Breast Collaboration

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Bona Drag is partaking in the cause this year. In efforts to support the awareness of breast cancer in young women, we are so happy to announce our first charitable collaboration with our amazing friends at The Keep A Breast Foundation™. For the collaboration, we worked with In God We Trust NYC to make a custom necklace just for the cause. 100% of our profits will be donated to Keep A Breast.

The necklaces are retailing for $50 and the profits made on them would go to Keep A Breast. We hung a brass heart, engraved with the word "boobs", upside-down on a brass chain to resemble the shape of boobs.  Included in the purchase of the necklace, the customer will also receive information on how they can help support Keep A Breast directly.

The Keep A Breast Foundation™ is “the leading youth-focused, global, nonprofit breast cancer organization. Our mission is to eradicate breast cancer for future generations. We provide support programs for young people impacted by cancer and educate people about prevention, early detection, and cancer-causing toxins in our everyday environment.”

Who's that Girl? | Luciana Fauci

Age: 29
Ethnicity: Italian - French
Currently live: Buenos aires, Argentina
Day job (what pays the bills): I worked on National direction of Migrates on Argentina

Hobbies:

Sketches, collages, painting, writing, music, and hitting the gym

Aspirations:

To be professional photographer one of this days and travel all over the world. Learn new cultures and try to make some films as writer director or at least to start.

Single/Taken:

Totally in love. I don't like to say taken, humans are free and love is part of that freedom.

Education/Study:

I studied Arts on the University of La Plata, and Photography course, and art direction but that course I have not finished.

What was growing up like for you?

Well those last years I was growing up as person, not talking about maturing, just learning about myself, love and respect to myself and my world. All those things bring some good stuff, a few work experiences and some awesome people who helped in all this.

Do you see yourself as Model?

Not at all, I'm still asking myself how can I be model and why life didn't give me long legs to be a real one haha.

When did you become involved in modelling and what do you love about it?

Well I started some years ago playing with friends taking pictures, nothing serious and everything was growing a little bit more day by day.  What do I love about that? I think I'm still role playing to be someone else.  I'm playing to pretend be pretty and sexy. Makse me feel more sure about myself and grow in other ways as Luciana.

What do you admire in other women?

How she walk around her universe, i admire strong women, sure about themselves, i dont care what she do if she is a if she is a teacher, a singuer, a model , an actreess, a writter, artist, director, a dancer, i admire every person who can make life better for themself and the ones around them.

What would you like to do it more in the future?

As I said before I really want to be a photographer and travel all over the world.

Who is Luciana?

I`m still asking that question everyday. She change lots day by day. I can see she is  a good girl, she is  talented but is far too shy and not sure enough of herself.

Where to you draw inspiration from?

Open the door, go out, you have a world of inspiration and course.  Old movies, fashion, arts, different cultures, nature, lives, books. I can't specify exactly where its from, it's just being alive and be passionate.

You come across as a very confident and strong woman, would you say you have always been like this or is this something you've worked hard towards?

Am I? Well i can say I'm still working on it.

Featured Tattoo Artist | Destroy Troy

Name: Destroy Troy
Age: 1978
Location: Kansas City, Missouri USA

What attracted you to tattooing?

I've always done art. I remember back in Kindergarten drawing tanks and guns. haha In middle school, about 7th grade I tattooed my name across my knuckles...luckily it didn't get infected...the lettering turned green and all dropped out in a few weeks. I just always thought tattoos where cool, after I got my first one I was hooked.

How did you get into the industry?

I worked at a local shop in Kansas City as front counter help. After a few years there I got an apprenticeship, however, I'd say I learned the most about tattooing when I moved to Perth Australia in 2007.

Was it hard to find an apprenticeship?

Very. As it should be. I doubt it is that hard these days. We got jokers opening tattoo schools which is a total scam. Then we got dick head shop owners cranking out apprentices left and right. Sometimes more then one apprentice.

How many years have you been tattooing?

 Almost 6 years. full time.

What inspires you?

I used to be inspired a lot by other tattooers, but lately it's been the travels that inspire me. I try to seek out reference and images that are not tattoos. Also, smoking DMT.

Who are your favourite tattoo artists?

They are all on Instagram -
 @DustyNeal @Peppermintjones @SamRulz @AdamCraft to name a few.

How would you describe your tattoo style?

super bold

What have you learned in your years in the industry?

I spent nearly 4 years traveling on the road. Bouncing between Australia, New Zealand, Istanbul and several parts of Europe, over 30+ shops, there was tons of knowledge to absorb. Maybe the most important thing I've learned is hot to tell people there tattoo idea sucks, but in a nice way, and turn the ideas around into a nice tattoo. People should get what they want tattooed on them, but as a artist, i feel it is my job to help guide them out of "a small rose with 5 names hidden in the pedals with all the birthdays hidden in the stem" hahaha

What advice do you have to people considering careers in tattooing?

 Don't do it. Honestly.

What are some of the best things you have experienced as a result of your career?

The traveling and making new friends.

Where do you currently tattoo?

Kansas City at Timeless Tattoo.
